When did you note a shift ? I'm about 1/2 way through and felt like it was just starting to get on its feet. The Junk Chain /Welfare Queen vs The Klan was hilarious

I thought he meant OITNB. I stopped watching that one too, though I can't remember what made me lose interest. Weeds was really entertaining for the first few seasons, but I definitely agree it suffered once it turned darker toward the end. Just seemed very confused and seemed to have lost its vision.

I didn't realize she was behind GLOW until now...

Fun Fact: The guy who did Breaking Bad said he'd never have gone through with it if he'd known what Weeds was about.

Visually visceral and immense with an impressive non linear narrative that encapsulates the terror, anxiety and maddens of men and war. Great ensemble cast that is not consumed by heroics but comes across displaying a degree of naturalism from the cast who in a military phrase which has been getting oxygen lately "Hurry up and.....wait" Cinematic excellence by all involved.

Been a little while since I saw Logan. What I remember is a lot of people getting stabbed in the head.

I went to see the re-issued version of Tarkovsky's Stalker on the big screen...

It's beautiful, although I still prefer the novel by the Strugatsky brothers, on which it is based.

    Dunkirk - Christopher Nolan (2017)

Traditionally war history told in a new and fresh way; we follow three different events during the same day. This is not an actors movie, its a movie's movie. Nice act of Fionn Whithead though. Nice footage, and the sound are almost as important as the pictures. Little og no blood, which feels like a relief.
Nolan is a very clever director, and this one is nearly as good as Interstellar.

Very interested in this. I'm afraid Tom Hardy is yet another bad-ass uber-character who kills all his opponents with ease, though?

@Stugotes Hardy's role is very different from his usual acting engagements. His role is quite psychologically intense and demanding from the characters perspective. To say more would be saying too much.

Seen Taboo? New BBC series. He's fantastic in that.

Would not say so, Nolan is a clever director and let us not identify with the characters more then just a tiny bit.
We don't see Hardy's face until the very end of the movie. He is of course a hero in this story, but not one dimensional; like the rest of the main characters he has to make some difficult decisions and sacrifices under extreme conditions.

I need to check out Dunkirk. I remember seeing the preview when I went to see Alien Covenant, but the preview gave little detail as to what the movie was actually about. Seems to be the trend in previews these days.

Forget if I posted this or not. Very solid debut from Jordan Peele. More of a thriller than a horror. Fun times.
