What make Ties to buy?

Looking for good quality Ties.....who's makes quality ties?

What price range are you looking for?

The best bang for your buck is Sam Hober for a mile.

On sale, Howard Yount is also a great bargain.

Drakes and Panta are great, but a bit more expensive than Hober (for a product which is sometimes better, sometimes inferior, and sometimes comparable).

There are some Italian brands out there, but I'm not a huge fan of their designs.

Price range id like to keep it under 100 each... I'm a slimmer guy with modern fitting suits (nothing too slim)....looking for 3 inch ties. What does the hive think about Brooks Brothers Ties?

The hive doesn't like being referred to as a hive. We feel it presents us in a negative light, which we do not appreciate. The collective recommends Sam Hober. The quality is far above Brooks Brothers, and the ties are entirely bespoke, so the individual may specify lengths and widths of the individual's tie, as well as lining, tipping, and construction.

(We also think that 3.25 is a better width for our narrow ties, but we sometimes disagree with ourselves about this. We are vexing like that).

I have purchased a few ties from Hober and I can say they are some of the best purchases I have made since starting on this site. Every time I wear them I feel like a million bucks because I know I have a better tie than the guy next to me.

Won't argue this at all. OP just needs to do a little research, lots of good stuff out there (but Hober really does rock!).

You can also pick up very good value ties from forum members in the Marketplace. I particularly recommend ich_dien's selection of Italian makers, and pocketcircle seems to have a lot of stuff. But there are always a good range of fine ties available at much lower than RRPs there.

Hilditch and Key still on sale for a day or two.
I have probably between 15 and 20. Very well
made. Almost the quality of my Sulkas.
Their current width ,which is the vogue, is a turnoff
for me who likes his ties no narrower than 3.75 in.

I'm going to add Drakes to the list. They make a very nice tie that can be routinely found on sale in department stores and on Buy & Sell for under $80.
