what if you were going for dress casual (more on teh casual side) and you wanted to wear...lets say a gray vneck sweater, white point collar shirt, dark colored tie and charcoal trousers..

what color shoe would you wear? what kind?

i think i'm going to wear brown park avenues with this but im not sold. maybe some sort of wingtip kind of thing? i want it to go together well with this outfit i have lined up but still be...sort of dandy. eye catching but still...subtle in a way. traditional.

Interesting dilema.

Wear black, you will look far too formal. Brown, total mis-match.

Grey and white requires a lift. So my suggestion is to go for a nice pair of dark wine, burgundy shoes. Interms of styling. Make sure they are slip on loafers. Laces are far too stuffy looking.

Hope this helps.

Best regards.

Retro Dog.

A pair of AE Graysons in merlot calf would be my first choice. You mentioned wingtips as a possibility,...AE MacNeils in merlot calf or #8 shell, would be a very good choice as well.

Nah, actually I think Dark Brown with grey is very nice. Look at classic bordo and brown suede as well, IMO. I'd say no to a captoe like the PA....depending on your overall style, a heavier wingtip, a split-toe pattern or a nice higher cut slip-on should be considered. I always think captoe oxfords as exclusively suit shoes.
