What kind of shirts do you wear with a blazer?

Navy blazer, probably with gray or khaki pants, for going out at night.

Would any regular dress shirt work? (no tie, top button open) Or should it be something more casual like a sports shirt.

Also if someone can recommend some good brands, 100 dollar range, maybe on the slimmer/fitted end?

Sorry I'm pretty clueless

J.Crew or RL dress or sport shirts would be in that price range.

a scoop neck T shirt would casual yet elegant... Try Acne (www.acnejeans.com/), but stay away from their Pop Classics line, for better fabric...

depends on who you are going out with, are you going out with 20 somethings college students, try a solid v-neck t-shirt, although it is preferable that it is a silk or cashmere t-shirt (Giorgio Armani has an amazing Cashmere t-shirt) If you are going out with an older crowd than dress shirts are the way to go, drop by neiman marcus last call or nordstrom rack and look for something classic, you could likely pick up a 200-400 dollar shirt for 60-120ish look for canali, zegna etc.

Yes. Use collar stays if you have a non-button down collar. That'll keep it up (so to speak). Brooks Brothers is an option for your price point. Try the slim fit.

make sure shirt tail is NOT, repeat NOT tugged in, to give it the proper casual flair.

Button downs look just fine. Untucked shirts will mark you as a slob.
