This posting is NOT meant to be punitive, but just seeking to understand the demographics here. People here clearly like to dress "sharp", have serious knowledge, and spend money to attain this goal..

But, dressing well means different things in different circles.

Who are you?

Sharp dressed Mortgage Broker "guidos" who wear "gangster/Godfather" pinstripes?
Academic elite?
Politician?
Preppy WASP?
Corporate elite?
Doctors, lawyers, bankers.... ?
Blue collar business owners? (housing, restaurant, etc)
Pro athlete, actor, celeb?

For example, Ed Hardy is considered "classy" in 1 circle/demographic,
and tasteless tacky Prole in another.

Brooks B. is tasteful in 1 circle/demographic,
and is unhip / old people in another.

All segments above have different sartorial tastes...
This varies by age, career, education, location, etc.

Very curious....

I am preppy / corporate.

Who are you?

Sharp dressed Mortgage Broker "guidos" who wear "gangster/Godfather" pinstripes? I wear Oxxford and sometimes Brioni. Since I went back to school, I rarely if at all wear a suit unless I have to go to DC.
Academic elite? --yes, I am currently in a PhD program.
Politician?--I am still a registered lobbyist.
Preppy WASP?--WASP for sure but I go to Mass with my wife.
Corporate elite?--Worked in a corporate job in China for 5+ years.
Doctors, lawyers, bankers.... ? Have my JD but will have to get an LLM to go back into law after leaving the profession.
Blue collar business owners? (housing, restaurant, etc)--Not sure. My wife and I are in the middle of purchasing a liquor store.
Pro athlete, actor, celeb?--Had a wrestling scholarship in college but tore my Achilles tendon within one month.

Trust fund kid?

Preppy, but my parents are farrrrrrrr from being preppy - they are 60% nouveau riche, 40% humble.
