What kind of hair product to keep side swept bangs in place?

I have all sorts of hair products depending on how I want to style my bangs. For now, they're a bit long so I'm sticking to side-sweeping them. Does anyone know of any good products that will keep it in place without messing up in the wind?

I'd use pomade, but it has a tendency to clump the hair together, which would ruin the look.

I'd prefer a matte texture, but sheen is alright I guess if the product gets the job done.

Thanks.

This is the eternal dilemma: the choice between control and a natural look. I have grappled with it myself, using (and never being fully satisfied with) millions of different types of products in my struggle. I've had the best results with water-based cremes (the now-discontinued Jonathan line was particularly successful for my purposes). A little goes a surprisingly long way. Also, learn the art of the blow dryer. It is the secret ingredient in good long(ish) hair.

There are lots of matte putty / wax products that may work for you. Unfortunately, you need to experiment.

Hair products are a funny proposition, since the experimentation phase is quite expensive, but once I find one that I like, I find that a single container lasts practically forever, so that the cost becomes essentially negligible. I'm currently using some stuff from l'Oreal that I bought at a drugstore for dirt cheap as a stop-gap solution when an airline lost my luggage; it's actually quite OK.

Yeah. A blow dryer would be the finishing touch to keeping hair in place.. but I'm a dude and I already have a big collection of hair products and colognes. The only reason why I don't have a blow dryer is because my friends would give me so much **** for it. lol.

What people think of you is none of your business. Learn to live your life starting today free from the judgments of others. Risk the ridicule - people are too busy thinking about their own lives to give yours much more than a cursory comment.

would it hold up to wind from bike riding?

edit: the most annoying part for keeping side swept bangs is, say that you part them to the right and you get some really strong wind that blows your hair to the left.. this creates a disheveled look and upheaves the bangs. it almost straightens it depending on how hard the wind is blowing and it frustrates me to no end because i have to keep on pushing it back and it never falls back into place the same.

I use hairspray, although there are lots of ****** ones and you can/will burn through hairspray really quickly. You also need a blowdryer with hairspray, but I find I can't get the kind of control I want in my hair without it.

Honestly I think that's kind of the price to pay for longer hair. You don't want your bangs to look stiff and crunchy and unnatural.

Maybe give Aveda Grooming Clay a shot, just don't use too much of it. Your hair will still probably get blown out of place in the wind, but you can run your fingers through it and fix it right up.
