Extremely sad day in jazz today. Chick Corea a giant of jazz has passed. He was very influential in my jazz appreciation back when I was young. I am lucky enough to have seen him several times, with Return to Forever and my favorite time sitting right behind him at Yoshi's jazz club. It is a shock, there weren't any news of ill health. I'll be playing his music for days. He certainly left a lot.

What??? ****. I've got a "Return to Forever" LP framed on the wall right here.
I know we all go but that's a Giant gone. Rest in power.

I loved the Album version but saw this on youtube earlier in the winter. I love the sensitivity of the interplay in the original but seeing the playing makes me appreciate the technical aspect. Beautiful.

A giant has left the building. Saw him play with McLaughlin and band some years back then he returned with RTF. Absolutely remarkable virtuoso composer and player the world is a smaller place....sigh.

Nice playlist. I like seeing Gal Costa on there. I recommend checking out her early albums. Deeply weird mix of psychedelic, rock, jazz, samba, Bossa Nova... all sorts of influences going on. Great voice and range of material. Some of it just sounds like a soundtrack to an impossibly cool movie that was never made. Rarely straight ahead Jazz but great...

Apparently the Military dictatorship of the time censored the cover of the original LP... it's been restored in contemporary rereleases.

I just 'found out' about the Tone Poet series and ordered Chick's NHSNHS.

Will do. Early like pre 1980’s?

@Nbarbar , I was thinking of her late sixties and 70s stuff. Big transitional era for Brazilian music.
