bought up Catholic, all boys school n all that.

survived with heterosexuality intact, minimal priest molestations, and zero belief.

I fall into the 'I do think there is some power out there' category....

atheist - i find the idea of faith in a supernatural power at best peculiar and intriguing, at worst about the most frightening and alien concept i can imagine.

Any takers? Sign up under the "other cults" section...

Damn, they wear clothes? I was just about to sign up.

Sorry, but my choice is not listed - Apatheism. Drawn from the Greek "theos" for "god" and "apa" for "couldn't give a ****." Is short, my belief system can be described as don't know, don't care.

Atheist #8 in the house. Though I'm technically not atheist, as I have no positive belief that there is no God, but rather don't believe that there's any convincing evidence that there IS a God. Agnostic with atheist leanings, I suppose.

I'll go with Christianity because that's what I was raised with, I think Christ was a pretty cool guy, and I just can't help but think in terms of Christ's basic philosophy of life.

No, a positive belief that there is no god is not necessary to be an atheist. The atheist simply believes that there is no evidence that god exists. It is impossible to provide evidence that something does not exist. The burden of proof is on those that wish to prove that it does exist. Without any evidence, God does not exist in the same way that unicorns and dragons do not exist.

That site contains a lot of neat information about the breakdown of religion with discussion as to where the numbers come from and why they are what they are.

It also has a good discussion about atheists and agnostics.

With regard to your poll, I have no choice.. I simply do not believe in or think about any of it. My answer is simply 'No Comment'

I would like to point out that Judaism is a culture, which happens to have a religious aspect attached to it. But, you can separate the religious aspects of Judaism from the culture aspects.

Born into family of Mennonite missionaries and pacifists, raised a Free Methodist, currently attending a non-demoniational Union church, and starting to dabble in Catholicism.

How's that for mix?
