when my hair is at it's current length(shorter, cause I usually go 2-3 months w/o a hair cut): Dove shampoo & conditioners and this **** i stole from my mom, it's by bed head, called "Hard To Get". I have no idea if it's a guys, girls, or unisex product, but I love it. Lol.

Try Dirt by Jonathan...I swear by it...better than pomade, great smell, and gives your hair a manageability like if you didn't wash it for a day or two...but without the oil. You can find it at Sephora. Everyone I've recommended it to is now using it exclusively.

I hate Dirt. I think it pretty much does nothing and is way overpriced (like all of his products).

My two personal favs:

For when my hair is short: Sumotech, by Bumble & Bumble (can be found at beautysleuth)
For when it is longer (at present): have been using this tub of gold for over a year now- called 'Hair Shaper', by FUDGE (can be found at mankind)
