I watched Razor and and the beginning of season 4. Still no explanation of Starbuck, but it is getting weirder.

She was easily one of the more irritating characters on an otherwise amazing show.

The show starts to fall apart 1/2 through the final season and has a fairly crappy end. Having said that, it's still one of my favorite shows ever.

It wasn't so much crappy as it was incredibly cheesy.

What if you never really know who Starbuck is? I was going to say that if you find that possible answer infuriating, or at least deeply irritating, then perhaps you should skip Season 4.

???? She was a major character and her death and then reappearance seem like a big deal. They are not ignoring the oddity of it--it is a big question that all the other characters have about 'her"-- so are you saying it is just never addressed? I would find that irritating. Is it something that they just forgot to deal with or is it deliberately left as a mystery?

I think I will read the plot summaries of the rest of the season to see if it looks worth spending time on.

I would say it's deliberately left as a mystery, although some of the possible explanations are clearly rejected. There are some odd twists toward the very end.

The whole final cylons reveal was a moment they never fully recovered from.

Looking back at it, the final cylon that was revealed....was pretty fucking weak.

Too many WTF moments in the final episodes, and not not in a good way.

Watched it through. I liked how Kara Thrace was handled-she saw her dead body and destroyed Viper, but how she returned to life (and how her body and Viper got to the 13th Colony) were simply not explained and left as an overt mystery.
On the other hand, the last few minutes and the tie-in to our history was awful. Kind of a shame.

I really hope that in a few years someone goes back and takes apart BSG and "Lost" to show how manipulative and shallow they really were. I mean, it was obvious they were making the shows up as they went along, but I expected more than that at the end. Ugh.

I was fortunate enough to just finish up watching this whole series this week totally unmolested by spoilers... or even knowing anything at all about the plot what-so-ever.

I don't really follow sci-fi genre (but have fanatical cousins/friends). Luckily I went in watching this series with the wife total Galactica virgins (we watched episodes in bunches throughout this month).

    That said:

the mini series (the 1.5hr 1st part), season 1 and season 2 are amazing. A+ level television even if you don't follow sci fi... the writing is impeccable.

season 3 is depressing and has multiple clunker WTF?! I JUST WASTED AN HOUR OF MY LIFE episodes... which pissed me off but still had me in love with the series...

the beginning of season 4 (the razor) was excellent but totally frivolous too.

season 4 till the ending suuuuuuuuuuccccckeeeeed for me... all the characters became total asshole versions of themselves to the point where I was openly hoping the cylons would kill them off or they'd die. Literally every main character becomes a fucking asinine used tampon to the point where I would be angered every time the stupid president would be part of a storyline.

After just finishing the last episode tonight... and reassessing the whole series I wouldn't watch it over again - just the president alone annoyed the bejesus out of me even in the A+ level seasons 1-2... by the time seasons 3 and 4 rolled along I just wished she died.

sometimes series should be cut off for their own good... like after the 1st season of heros... or the 4th season of Lost.
