My local store has these in five colors: black, bleach, Light Stonewash, Dark Stonewash and Prewash Indigo.

In regards to a dark blue, the Prewash Indigo appears to be darkest followed by the Dark Stonewash.

Re-wash Indigo. It'll bleed like crazy (just like the old days. Ernest, I'm warning you that Levis made for different markets are significantly different. The American 501s tend to be of cheaper fabric and be higher waisted than those made for European markets. It's like Italian suits made for the U.S. market, which tend to be more generously cut *and* have double pleats, something (just ask Chuck of Carlo Franco) that is just not the norm for suits made for the European market. Just so you know.

OMG. Ernest what did you do to your jeans? Unless that's the height of fashion in Paris...

I just got some levis 511s from e-bay for £18 including shipping, brand new with Macy's tags (no question that they're genuine), but they are far inferior to the quality of standard red tab 511s that retail in the UK for £75 ($150).
Also reading posts on levis by American posters, they seem to be seen as low end (on a par with chain store own brands) in the US. In the UK Levis have a 'signature' range which seems to compare with the standard US quality, but the red tab quality is pretty good, with standard 501s retailing at £60 - $120 and being to my eye decent quality and well made.
The difference in UK price does not reflect the level of quality difference, there's no way $44 retail 511s are that much worse than the $150 european / uk ones, but there is still a quality gap.

So why such a big difference in two (similar) markets?

Yes, couldn't think of a snappy title for my question, and still can't put it more eloquently. Something like 'Why are UK levi's 4 times the cost of US ones and twice as well made?' might have done it though...
The colour of my e-bay jeans doesn't exactly correspond with any I've seen for sale here either.
Apologies if it bad manners to resurect old threads here, I've never understood that particular point of internet ettiquette.
