1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

This photographer is clearly in violation of Flusser's "Brando" contract clause.

Are you sure he's wearing a button down here? Looks like it could be a spread collar that got a little scrunched up.

That was the best pic I could find and I agree, it's not clear from that, but if you watch the movie, it's clear.

Fair enough. I just wasn't sure. And in response to the original question, this:

JFK with the bottom suit button fastened. I know, I know - he wore a back brace and needed to cover it up. It still makes the jacket pull in a strange way.

Both a sartorial as well as ideological hero of mine: Helmut Schmidt frequently seen with a buttoned jacket while seated.

Rule is: always leave DB buttoned when seated, SB is optional but most prefer to unbutton.

yes, if the jacket does not fit and you are spread eagle, it will look like shit. In your Schmidt pic, he looks great and composed.

Dressing for TV has its own requirements, like:

"If you are a man with even an inch of fat on your waist or are wearing a suit that isn’t 100% perfectly tailored, then keep your jacket buttoned.
This will keep your tie in place, your suit symmetrical, minimize your gut and show less of your light colored shirt."

    As stated here
