2" above makes it a turtleneck sweater......

Between 1/2" to 3/4" is a good showing, but thats just IMO.

Half an inch minimum. It can be more, but it is a matter of proportion (collar of the suit and shirt collar).

I just perused my Flusser book last night, coincidentally. He says at least 1/2". But he then shows a drawing where the collar gets too high. I think you want 1/2" minimum, and whether it's too high is something you'll know when you see it.

On a side note complaint, I think Dressing the Man has too many drawings rather than actual photos. I hate how Flusser says something is suppose to fit, and rather than showing a photo of someone in wonderfully executed clothes, it's a stupid drawing. Lame.

I like it to show about 0.5" above the coat collar.

These tall collars look nice. I have mine done up this way. Looks 'important'. I'm having a real difficult time looking like the Duke of Kent, though.

I guess it depends on the person and whether you are royalty. When the back of the collar gets too high and follows the line of your neck, it starts to pull away from the jacket collar such that the jacket collar no longer sits properly.
