The collars on the contemporary ones also suck. Fused city.

That's a pity. I'm really looking for a button-down collar shirt (doesnt' have to be oxford cloth fabric) in that very light, icy blue. I don't believe Black Fleece has such a light blue, neither does Rugby.

Brooks Brothers MTM has a light blue royal oxford that might be close to what you want.

Pricier, though, but much better collar than J. Press.

You could also try to find a Borrelli BD discounted. The collars are fused, but the fusing is of high quallity and fairly supple. The rolls are ususally better than the current American stuff, even if the product as a whole has a slightly inauthentic air.

Vox is right - the collars on JPress's OCBDs are a weak point. I have a few and wear them anyway, as there are other things to recommend them (I am a sucker for the old three-whole buttons and pocket flap) and I can live with the collar. Also, Press's sourcing jumps around a bit and not all of their shirts are built the same. If there is a shop near you have a look at what is actually in stock in your size. I have some OCBDs from Press with softer collars.

Overall, Black Fleece OCBDs seem to be the best option available for a RTW OCBD right now. The cuffs have some stiff fusing, which I don't understand since, while it is stupid, it doesn't mark them as Thom Browne. Unlike the loop which is stupid but intended to mark the shirts as Browne's, the cuff fusing is gratuitous stupidity. But they aren't visible and not bothersome enough for me to not wear the shirts.

Yep. Odd and maddening choice on the cuffs...I am hopeful that my cleaners can destroy them a little, and soften them up.

That's the least of their problems. Also no tie space, points too short, and V too wide.

Much of this can be covered up with a bowtie (in fact, that's what I did last Friday). The fabric is good, though not as beefy as Brooks (or even the older Polo OCBD I'm wearing right now). In their price range, I like Press the best. I like the pocket flap and it's made in the USA.

To get a slim-fit Brooks, you'll have to get non-iron fabric. You also have fused collars and cuffs, while I think Brooks still have these unfused. Just a few years ago the comparable shirt at Brooks was made in Malaysia, but on the website they are now indicating made in the USA.

There is also Mercer for a little more money, and much more tentiness (although you can get a 2" body reduction done on them).

Brooks Brothers still makes slim fit, all cotton, US-made OCBDs. These shirts are not non-iron. The selection is limited to solids and candy stripes.

although this is generally true, BB does sell solid light blue and grey stripe slim fit oxfords in NON-non-iron.

oops. Dandy beat me to it. note however that solid white does not seem to be available. i don't think all candy-stripe colors are available, either.

Not only that, you can have a different collar and body size. My Mercers have a 16 neck but a 15 body, and then the 2" slim treatment. They are still quite baggy compared to the CEGO BDs, however.

I don't like tie space for a spread collar, but I think it is essential for a BD, point or tab collar.

I keep reading OCBD as, obsessive compulsive button down, but that would be a Mafoofan one shirt wardrobe thread I guess.
