I whipped out a tie I just bought at a bathroom in a club last weekend. I told my buddy that I've never worn one and wanted to try it out. The four in hand came out perfect with a great "dimple". My buddy came over and "fixed" it for me (taking out the dimple).

They sell ties in the bathrooms of clubs these days :paranoia:? I guess I should go out more.....

He didn't say what he used to pay for this tie. I'm going to guess it was non-monetary in nature...

Ugh. I hate this phrase. Most people who are forced to wear a suit and tie to work aren't exactly snappy dressers, yet they will always try to "fix" your tie when they see you wearing one, because they have been "doing it for years and know how to do it properly"...

He meant well and is a good friend.

I had just bought the tie at a Goodwill store.

I looked at a Macy's and a J. C. Penney's and didn't see one tie that I would wear. I'm not ready to spend big dollars on a tie yet.

I have several from the thrifts that I like and will wear.

Ugh, I hate tie knots with no dimple. Judging from what I see on the subway every morning, it seems like most people like it this way

That is why there is a difference between wearing and dressing.

Id like to turn the trajectory of this thread towards balloon knots.

start a new trend. although, I think the ladies would be turned off by a tie that smells like @sshole

I really struggle to put a dimple in my 1 inch ties...
Don't wear 1" ties.

In all seriousness, those look good on nobody. If you're 5lbs overweight, they make you look 30lbs overweight. If you're within fit range, they still look too small. If you're anorexic.. well, there you go.

I like anywhere from 2.5" to 3", with 2.75" being the measurement that fits me best. I believe that's 'reasonably timeless'?

... maybe its 1.25-1.5" ... and yeah, I'm anorexic ... well, 63kg, I think that's 140pds? And 5'9
