What is NYC upper east side young men style?

Can someone answer this question for me? The other day, I was talking with a close friend of mine, and she said that she found the upper east elite young men fashion style very attractive.

She described it as dominative, and very prestigous. I live in NYC but on the west side so I don't have any idea what they wear, although she says you know, black gloves and other stuff. Can anyone point to me a picture or some brands that would concur with this style?

I think she has a wild imagination... Most men in the city dress like crap. There is definitely no specific style for the UES. Most people who live anywhere east of Park ave arent even from the city originally in the first place.

I live on the UES so I'd consider myself a fair source. Traditional UES-wear would be something classic like Ralph Lauren. However, in practice, young men on the UES are overwhelmingly fratty and poorly dressed.

I live on the UES too. Some people dress nice, but nothing all that special. If you walk along madison or park, there's lots of rich men in fitted overcoats and gloves/scarves. When I go to mid-town, 40-50's, that's where most people bring their "A" game.

Dominative?

If you live on the West side you could always take a trip over and see for yourself, no? Or else just ask your friend what it is that she likes.

Also, generally the well-dressed people on Park and Madison are not that young. I wonder if the OP was referring to people in their 20s or 30s? The younger folk on the UES are generally not the rich ones.

1. Elite? Check.

2. Young man? Check.

3. Dominative? Check.

4. Prestigious? Check.

5. Black gloves? Check.

The answer? Tom Ford:

I would suggest she might have been referring to the style exhibited in the TV show 'Gossip Girls'. The male characters tend to dress in a sort of tweaked east-coast traditional manner. Kind of the Kennedys (rep-ties, navy blazers, chinos, etc) with a bit more attitude.

I find the well dressed to be the people that work in the area. The sales associates that work on 5th or Madison. It is very rare for me to come across someone with fashion sense that doesnt work in fashion!

This is exactly right east of 3rd Ave.

Will "gossip girl" prove to be as dangerous to naive young men as "sex and the city" was to women, time will tell...

to the op: so you want to get the right gear so you can get in her pants or what? I suggest chaps and a smile.

Its one of the cheaper sections of the city (for whitey at least), so its mostly college kids and newly employed people.

I've gotta agree here, I don't live in the area but I'm there quite often and most of the men there aren't originally from NY so normally they're from small college towns where men aren't as fashion forward obviously and if they are fashionable, chances are they're not from the area.
