Hey friends can someone tell me what is heat and cold therapy. My father is suffering from a severe back pain and is really very depressed due to that. Someone told me to give him the heat and cold therapy which will help him in getting recovered soon from this problem of back pain. I really don't know what is it and how does it work so please give me your suggestions on it.

The company that I work for just bought a product called ThermaCare. It's a heat producing pad that is supposed to help alleviate muscle and arthritic pain by relaxing muscle tension.

Here's the website describing the product.

I can't speak to how helpful they are, having not tried them myself, but maybe it's worth a shot. They might offer some day to day or nighttime relief.

Best of luck.

I wish your father well. If the back pain is that severe, I am not sure heat & cold therapy is going to be enough. He really should be going to the doctor and/or specialist.

The heat and cold therapy is used in the cases of back pain problem. I came across this therapy last year when my uncle was recommended for it. We gathered a lot of details from a website for back pain treatment where we found the complete and detailed information about heat and cold therapy. I will suggest you to go through this link and I am sure you will get all the desired answers for your questions.

i feel you. i too continue to suffer from chronic back pain to a back strain that i incurred at a job several years ago. i reccommend yoga stretches, there are tons of places online you can find illustrations of the poses. and plenty of stretches that workout the back/base specifically. i hope that helps!
