What is excessive sole wearing (ie when should I send shoes back to EG) ?

Gentlemen-

For one reason or another I have found out that I'm more risk averse with my EG's than I used to be with other shoes regarding sole wearing.

I just took care of my beloved Russells and found out that the tip of the sole was already kind of worn out (picture attached). I have them since this summer and wear them regularly (say twice a week).

Considering those shoes' wonderful balance I have always been planning to send them back to EG for refurbishment when needed. Now I wonder: has this time come already ?

Thoughts, feedback ?
Thanks

What does the bottom look like? Given the relatively short period of time you've had them, I'm wondering if your gait generates an unusual amount of wear right there at the toe. Maybe it's worth trying toe-taps (or whatever those things are called)?

I have the same problem with my toes.

Get toe taps but on by a cobbler.

Or get a small piece of Topy glued to the toe tips.

End of the story, here's what my cobbler ended up doing. I guess I'll ask him to do the same to my future shoes before I wear them.

That's the thing to do if you can handle the noise. I gotta say, however, that the fitting of that toe tap could have been more precise. I'm in the 'glue a small hemisphere of topy rubber to the toe' camp. With a recent pair of boots I nailed on a plastic toe tap, and it's almost as good as the topy. I can't stand plastic heel taps, so topy works well for me there.
