1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

    Very clever but disturbed man...

He is a typical active agressive...[IMG]

Spotted him in Soho last week. Looked like he'd been in a fire - think he'd just had a chemical peel...

I have posted a lot of images in a lighthearted manner in this thread, perhaps without really answering the basic question. So let me add a couple of comments.

Firstly, the last time that "street" fashions in Britain were really sharp was at the time of the original skinheads in 1969 - the Tonik suit, brogues, Ben Sherman shirts, Crombies and sheepskins, Prince of Wales check, Harrington jackets...

Possibly the most quintessentially English designs for men have been the ones I am linking to below. Firstly the Norfolk Jacket. It had a minor revival in the 1960s mod era, and the high street tried to reintroduce it in the 90s with no success, but it is an absolute classic.

The Belstaff Trialmaster waxed jacket for motorcycling led a style which was so much associated with the UK that it was known in America as the "English Jacket".

Is this the only representative from Wales? A statue of Tommy Cooper has stood in Caerffili, his birthplace, for about a year now.

Now that really is an "English Jacket".

(Yes, I know the UJ is British, but see my post about the Belstaff Trialmaster)

Ah, Burnsie! I knew the guy when he worked at Probe Records in Liverpool, and we would bump into each other regularly at Eric's Club (opposite where the Cavern used to be). He out-punked the punks, out-gothed the goths, and out-boy-georged Boy George!

You really should write a book MoM! [IMG] Malcolm McLaren, Pete Burns, situationist skinhead in '68, pioneer of the punk 'zine in '69.... [IMG]

    "Memoirs of a Serial Ligger".

I'll have to start with carrying Ravi Shankar's sitar for him...
