Is this nightmare from the Sartorialist?

Notice the sleeve cap on his jacket. This is what is called a dramatically roped shoulder. A very Southern Italian detail and a very acquired taste.

I don't understand; you posted the answer to your own question. Are you still confused?

LOL on that being common in Southern Italy.

I like roping, but that's too much.

How do you get that much puckering everywhere? It looks like he has a wadded up pillow inside the sleeve, and like he did some odd thing to the chest pocket to make it look like my 80 year old aunt's face.

That's the Southern Italian element, you know, big sleevehead, shir the excess, etc.

It would go nicely with a Puffy Shirt.

There's something very Victorian female about it.

That's a girly jacket. That's also a girly jacket I dislike. He also looks eminently punchable and I'm no violent man.

Poirot always has a slight puff. But roping has to be subtle.

It's a functional piece designed to catch the cigarette ash while his neck is angled at 45 degrees. Otherwise the ash falls down into his glass of trendy southern Italian wine (also an acquired taste).
