P.S. If you want a great IEM, the iMetal 590s from Maximo Products are sublime.

Tight. What made you go for the RS 1's over Grado's 1000 series headphones?

Koss Porta Pro, I have couple of those. Very retro and nice sound quality.

Lower price but I will be trading these in for the new PS500, also in the Professional Series.

Atm I have Ultrasone PROLine 2500s with a nforce uDac, pretty good setup for the money.

Best setup I've owned though was a Stax setup, Stax Lambda Pro + Stax SRM-1/Mk II. Sounded amazing and I got them at a steal of a price [400$] but about 6 months later the left driver in the lambdas died and finding replacement parts was impossible so I had to let it go

Upper level Stax are in my opinion the best headphones you can buy. However for much less money the Audeze LCD2 are outstanding!

The Grado RS1is are breaking in nicely. The treble and midrange are much more clear now and there is better separation of instruments.

I'm really enjoying these headphones. :slayer:

I'd add the disclaimer that high end stax need sufficient amplification. Eg nothingly currently in production by stax drives them well. Used, headamps horrible waiting times, high voltage diy or woo audio (not my cup of tea) are the only *good* options.

I get your point but politely disagree. The top Stax amps drive them really well and they sound amazing. A friend just bought the top of line 007 before the new 009 came out.

I'm a small guy with small earholes.

    I like these type earbuds

They usually come with replacement rubber tips, and a smaller size set of tips, which I use and are the most comfortable I've ever worn.

F I've certainly seen others that would agree ... Moreso with the 717 than the 007, but the frequency response and dynamic range have too many issues for me at that point. My Weiss probably doesn't help the former however...

Edit: In all fairness I can't think of a better system at anywhere near 2.5k over a O2 mk1 //717.
