I got into an argument with a friend over what a true new yorker called 6 ave. He calls it avenue of the americas, I go with Sixth Avenue. Commments...

I was born on 7th ave. and grew up less than a block from 6th, so I consider myself to have some cred, but your friend may not. So show him that Dan Barry piece.

You know whats funnier than that? I heard someone the other day refer to greenwich village as greeenwich village(emphasis on GREEN) LOL, freakin tourists!!

If you say Greenwich at all when referring to Greenwich village, you are a tourist.

I heard someone correct a group of tourists earlier today on that pronunciation.
