if i am at home by myself or just me and spouse, and i know i will not be expecting any guests or will be leaving again,

usually i just have an undershirt and my favorite pair of shorts made with that basketball jersey material , on.
sometimes i go to even the extreme of just lounging around with undershirt and underwear brief.

now i dont think anyone wanted a picture of that

...wow, ...i really dont have any gentlemanly discretion freely discussing this with strangers!

In winter: normally, jeans or long-legged training suit trousers, and a cheap wool sweater (I have two cheap wool sweaters for winter use at home). In summer, jeans (with thinner cloth than the winter ones) or khakis or training suit trousers, and a tee-shirt or, if it is a bit chilly, a cheap cotton sweater. All my sweaters are crew-neck sweaters (or turtle-neck sweaters, but these I only use for going out).
Sometimes I just hang around in a bath-robe, though. I have two cotton ones, a deep red one by the Sharif Shirt Company that I normally use in winter, and another one by Hugo Boss (please, don´t laugh at me, I got in for a real good price on sale). I once wanted one with this kind of leopard pattern, but my wife hated it. Now, I am doing the cooking at home, and in the kitchen I am not comfortable wearing a bathrobe.
I have actually been thinking about trying to dress nicer at home, for the benefit of my wife. Sometimes, when I read these English novels about old times when people dressed up even before a private dinner (husband and wife) at home, I feel inclined to reconsider this habit of "dressing down" at home. It is comfortable, though, and it also gives me an opportunity to wear (out) stuff that I would never put one when going out or, even, when going to the gym.

In the evenings around the house I generally wear pajama/lounge pants and a random t-shirt along with cheap ankle athletic socks. Not terribly elegant, I fear. It is comfortable, though.

Same here, I don't dress down when I'm home and I don't dress up when I'm out. The only time I dress down is when I go to the gym.
