It's Phil Sears Schoonmaker; I wonder if he's here on SF. I really like his style & his answers in the interview. A couple of interesting notes:
  • He wears black knit ties 98% of the time; he owns 7 black knits from J-press o_o
  • I am drawn to mid-century style because it appeals to my sense of order and minimalism. The idea that an object can be appreciated purely for its function, rather than its ornamentation, speaks to me.

great read. this man reeks of simplicity, fit, and quailty. the alligator strap belt and engine turned buckle is a recent, popular trend in styleforum. this man may be the reason why

I like it. I could never go that minimal personally though, I like playing around too much.

But it's a nice aesthetic, and one I borrow a lot from myself.

kind of boring look on that guy. And the button-down collars with the suit look weird to me. And I don't like knit ties with suits. Knit ties with suits are not mid-century modern.

Knit ties really could be from any era, and were quite certainly seen mid century. A lot. With suits. In business.
