What do you think of these two Paul Smith Velvet jackets

Hi gentlemen what do you think of these:

One is grey the other one is sort of reddish brown, which might not be so obvious in the picture. Which one do you think looks better, or do you think it look ok in the first place? I have some questions with the length and the durablity of these cotton velvet jackets. As you see the length is quite long in my opinion, and I'm not sure cotton velvet is a durable material, I am afraid it will wear out in the areas of elbow and places like that. It's not cheap, $900 AUD. Last what do you think of the fit, can it be better?

I'd like to hear your opinion guys. And please don't post my photo in the member photo thread as I am not ready for there yet. Also don't worry about the white pants, it's summer in Australia.

It's good to see another Australian on here, as there aren't too many of us.

I would not spend too much money on a velvet jacket, as I do think that you could be right about them showing wear a bit more easily than a wool or normal cotton jacket. Also, a velvet jacket is not really the sort of jacket that you wear a lot, and thus it seems like rather a waste to drop $900 on one jacket.

For what it's worth, I found a black velvet jacket, new-with-tags, for only $120 or so after currency conversion on UK ebay.
It's not fantastic quality - which is fine for the price I paid - but it has double rear vents, peak lapels and a ticket pocket. I only wear it once a month, or perhaps even less.

My friend has this nice burgundy velvet jacket that he sewed LV monogram leather onto the elbows, its an ironic statement of sorts, since the leather is not genuine LV lol.

Only the gray jacket is visible now. Sorry, but the look is very unflattering, resulting in somewhat of an hourglass shape. Part of that is due to the cut and color of the pants. But the flap pockets on the jacket are doing you no good.
