Oh, and the C-XF looks NOTHING like the Lexus IS...!

Jon.

Well, I guess we just see designs differently. The concept design in the OP reminded me a lot of the current Lexus IS, and nothing like a Jag.

I may be the minority, but I think the front end looks pretty good. Financially, Jaguar can not make it on, mildly updating the appearance of their cars. I love the new XJ's, but how long can they expect to sell cars based on designs from the 60's or 50's, before they get stale. I think this may be a good move for the company, you'll have the XJ, which possesses the classic lines and character of Jaguar, as well as a sleek and sexy GT like the XK. This could be a good car to add into their line, especially when the main priority is to compete against more modern looking cars from MB, BMW, Lexus, etc.

The funny thing about Jaguar, is how people blindly complain about their Ford ownership, as if they were the king of the road in the 90's. They fail to remember that throughout the 90's, Jaguar was making unreliable crap cars. Then again the same can be said for Aston Martin and Land Rover.

This is Ford's stated rational for redesigning the cars. There is something special about Jaguar styling that is the essence of the mark. I hope Ford, in it's attempt to gain market share, doesn't design that essence out of the cars.

Agree, which is why I love the XJ's, however I never really thought of the X-types or S-types as true Jags, considering they shared underpinnings with other Ford automobiles.

I like the s-type but not the x-type.

The last Jaguar I could get excited about was the E-type.

Everything since then (except for the XJ220) has been bloated, plodding, and uninteresting.

I remember first witnessing pictures of the F-type concept, needless to say, I was speechless, even though it somewhat reminded me of a Panoz Esperante.
