I don't think they're very popular, at least where I am anyway. what do you all think of them? why are they less conservative than cool or blue tinted white shirts?

I love that color, and I do not see why they would be less conservative.

Love them. Go so much better with brown and maroon.

To clarify, I meant a maroon tie. Although I do have a suit with a maroon lining. The back of the vest is quite striking.

Just be careful with the exact shade. I tried it once, and it looked dingy and depressing. Bad choice of cloth, and the shirtmaker didn't step in to offer alternatives.

I'm with Cordia...you have to be careful it doesn't come out looking dingy, especially in color pictures.

Off-white provides less contrast than white. I'd only wear it if it was appropriate for my skintone.

I love off white shirts. They are more beautiful than a normal white color. I've just got a really nice one, tailormade by Barba in Sea Island cotton. Where do you live anyway, I have the feeling offwhite is more popular here than just plain white.

I'm a fan as well, depending on how creamy the color is. Too yellow is bad, but a bit adds a real richness. White can often be too antiseptic.

White shirts look great, but sometimes they can be a bit harsh and can drain color from the face.

    A cream shirt is softer.

I have (I am reluctant to admit) a color for men book lying around.

Its advice: unless you have high contrast skin tones, wear white only at night.

For the rest of us, cream is said to be more flattering during the day.

And cream/ecru/off white is recommended for television over white...

Oh, dahling, I simply LUV a good Ecru. Awesome with browns and simply fabulous with black. Concordia
Bad, Bad Shirtmaker. If the shirtmaker offered it to you and it was bad, s/he was trying to get rid of it. Return the favor. Get rid of the shitmaker. [IMG] Any good shirtmaker should be able to offer you at least 5-6 different shades of off-white, ivory, ecru, lite tan, oyster, winter white, or whatever the fashion mavens are calling it that year. Best option is to take swatches and compare with suits & skin color at home.

can you give any details on this?

my own take on off white shirts is that i like them on other people but not on me. my skin tone doesn't go well with them.
