Not sure why they opposed Walmart but not K-Mart or Target.

Its because they don't allow their workers to unionize...KMart and Target workers are in a union...we are a VERY strong union city...for better or worse.

You aren't kidding.

Sometime in the 80s, I recall moving out of a highrise office building. While a moving company (union, of course) was hired to relocate most of my office furnishings, I decided to take care of the more fragile decorative accessories myself. However, when the building staff discovered that I was carrying a box in the elevator ... I was met in the lobby with the full force of their ire.

This is a little like the "What's pissing you off" question. It could be a very long list.

I was quite polite at first ... pointing to the fact it was a relatively small box ... and the items were my own. I also drew their attention to a woman -- whom they ignored -- as she carried a large shopping bag out of the building ... asking "What's the difference?"

We did not see eye to eye ... so yes ... you could say I eventially told them to shove off ... in slightly different words ... "These are my items ... They were brought in under my power, and I'm taking them out that way. If you have a problem ... call the police."

Still strong union today, cost us hundreds of dollars to move one computer from one seat to the other seat on the same floor in the same desk, literally 10 ft apart..., can't even connect the monitor myself

tanlines, JO Booths, and noise pollution.

Anybody old enough to remember pre-Giuliani NY how loud the city was with all the cabs honking constantly and other loud noises? Its creepy how quiet NY became in the 90s and is today.

There should be a system, in designated areas, where you can park your car, be given an ID and have the option to purchase extra time units online instead of going back and forth to feed meters.
