I like the second look better than the first. The suit in the first pic is pretty nice -- what kind is it? I'd unbutton the top button, but just a personal opinion. Not a huge fan of the plan shirt and plain tie look. But, hey, your Ernest.

What color are the pinstripes or is that two different suits? I like a red or blue pinstripe personally - gives you some fun tie options. Did you intentionally tie the tie off-center a bit? Personally I like to ensure that I have a nice symmetrical knot with an even, centered dimple. Otherwise... it is hard to tell from the picture but is the jacket a little loose in the chest and shoulders? It looks a tad large for you in the pictures?

Oh yeah - one tip for you (Ernest, I am teasing you now n a good-natured way with a smile) ....Try the Gillette Mach 3 turbo razor and get rid of the scruff. Now all you need are some brown shoes and an alligator belt :)

This is a traditional suit (not fused) by Faconnable.

I prefer striped tie and shirts but with a striped suit, plain is better...

Reasonable, fair standard but still handsome businesswear. I'm not a big fan of combining a solid tie and a solid shirt, unless there is some interesting texture or a tone-on-tone pattern on offset the monotony. Cut of suits seems to be good. I'm not a fan of braces, but that is purely a matter of personal taste, and they do add some well-needed visual interest. My main problem with the look is that it is not distinctive in anyway - I'm not saying that you need to look like a clown (one of your favourite expressions, it seems) but you might consider, say, some red tones in your blue tie to offset the overwhelming blueness of that outfit (blue braces, blue striped shirt, blue tie?) If you are not a fan of prints or patterns, you might consider making your outfits minimalist - more severe. Ditch the braces in favor of a thin belt. Eschew stripes and patterns altogether.
