Just started using a Merkur Futur and Proraso/shaving soap. My technique is getting better and the shave is pretty excellent.

^ Thomas, which type/ how many straights do you use?

Straight shaving can get really addictive. in fact, it has taken the place of clothing for me-for now at least.

in the last two months i've purchased 8 straight razors ( three cheapies to practice honing on). Plus probably six or so different creams.

A year ago, it was just a fusion and a tube of kiehls.

heh, I was just think about the razors this morning...going from memory here...

    The main rotation:
7/8 Henkels Friodur (stainless, hollow ground)
15/16 Filarmonica (the last production run with the smiling blade, hollow ground)
    6/8 quarter-hollow Le Grelot (Thiers-Issard regrind)
8/8 Wolstenholm wedge (ebay purchase I cleaned up - fantastic edge)
7/8 Wade & Butcher wedge (...SRP or B&B board)

    The rest of the herd:

5/8 Wapinecas (3) - plan on rescaling each
    5/8 Weyersberg quarter-hollow
5/8 Wade & Butcher quarter-hollow that I'm still putting an edge on (ebay purchase)
    5/8 Le Grelot hollow ground
a few other rescale/rehone jobs that escape my recollection.

Seems I gravitate towards the heavier razors...

Yeah, Futur gives the best shave I've ever had. Never tried a slant though.

merkur futur + art of shaving gel

I used a wilkinson sword DE razor for about a year before I switched to futur. Once I did.. what a change, the shave u get with it is amazing.

Taylors Avocado WAS excellent before they changed the formula a couple of years ago.

    Currently,

Cheap disposable razors with lathered bar soap. Works well.

It's still good. The Taylor formulation change wasn't as bad as Trumper's.

Taylors Avocado WAS excellent before they changed the formula a couple of years ago.
