What Do You Prefer Your Fabric Content To Be In Your T-Shirts?

I own a lot of different t-shirts with varying fabric content (mainly different ratios of cotton/polyester). Personally, I prefer shirts that are split 50/50-90/10 on cotton to polyester respectively, and I don't really like 100% cotton tees. Even though blend shirts are more rigid and less "breathable," it just seems after a couple washes the pure cotton tees become too soft and look messy. I still use them for layering or casual wear with shorts, but only the blend tees I consistently use as a stand-alone top. However, it seems that I am the minority in this choice. I was just wondering what you guys felt about this subject, and if you know anything I don't about blend vs. pure cotton tees.

I am with you. I actually don't like my t-shirts to be the thinnest, softest material ever. It seems that everyone is trying to make their shirts softer and lighter and thinner than everyone else. I like my t-shirts to feel somewhat substantial, and I could care less how soft or thin they are.

How does that compare to 100% cotton and cotton/polyester blends?

A 100% cotton are thick, boring, and always too quick to lose their shape.

AA 50/50 cotton poly blend is nice but it's the rayon in the tri-blend that gives it a very nice softness and makes them drape so well.

I can't describe it so well, but when, for example, I taveled all throughout some very hot climates and was sweating ****** off, it didn't matter whether the shirt was dry or damp, it held well and always looked and felt great - very lightweight and always form-fitting.

Also, I find that even though AA in general is much too big and bulky, the tri-blend are so lightweight that you don't notice as much the excess fabric - so it's a damnit if I do get them tailored, damnit if I don't kind of situation.

I like 50/50... Hanes 50/50 found at the thrift store from the late 80's early 90's are cut pretty perfect IMO.

Unfortunately, all the cheap t-shirts (like under $10) from trusty makers appear to all be 100% cotton. If anyone could point me in the direction of some super-cheap, quality blend shirts I'd really appreciate it. American Apparel is the cheapest I'm seeing right now and it's selling three packs for $14 each. Not too bad, but if there are any cheaper that'd be great.

Generally 100% cotton, but I do like my American Apparel 50/50 tees a lot in the summer.

I don't have a true preference, but find that 100% cotton works well for me. If you found what you like for $14 for 3, I'd say you already have a winner, take your ball, and keep running with it. Any cheaper than that you're basically asking for something free.

I don't think I've ever put this much thought into cheaper t-shirts. I'm glad I'm not overcome by this affliction.

I like different weight cottons as well as a modell depends on the season and if I want a heavier fabric or something a little more drapier

I might have to try this. So is it a little more durable than 100% cotton tees? My problem with 100% is that they lose their form too easily after a few washes and become a lightweight piece of drapery.
