What do you pair with cashmere ties?

I saw a blue herrignbone Brioni cashmere tie buried in Filene's Downtown Crossing, marked down from $265 to $40-something due to a broken keeper. I've never seen such a nice wool tie up close before; what are good ensembles to pair with it?

I couldn't find old threads on cashmere ties. Are these mainly for fall and winter? Less formal than silk ties?

Pair it with anything you would pair a silk tie of the same color with, only difference would be that I would leave the cashmere exclusively for fall/winter. I'd gladly pay you a finders fee if you can get me one of those cashmere Brioni's.

Yes, but there are thinner wool/cotton blends that are fine for summer.

Sure, a little, but many look great with a suit. I love wool ties. I think they're very underrated.

You can use a silk pocket square with a wool tie.

I consider them mainly for fall/winter and less formal than silk ties. I like to pair them with sports suits or jackets, rather than a business suit.

You can use a silk pocket square with a wool tie.
...and any other type of tie

Alas, I believe there was only one. There were a few other wool ties in the pile, but they were not Brionis.

You got it. I don't recall ever seeing a Brioni tie yet in my brief stay in Boston. I think this one was there simply because the keeper was broken and the gold Brioni plate on it was half detached as well. It was also a quarter inch thinner than usual.

By the way, do they really retail for $265?
