Put in a link (or better yet a picture!) We are very busy men here, and haven't the time to be searching for these things in order to comment on them.

Sorry, I meant to post a pic. What is wrong with it in black? Does it look too "out there"? Definitely a unique looking shoe.

I like them in brown/chestnut had they keep the broguing at the toe only.

The shoe color seems dull out of the box but I have a friend who has them in brown and has used them a lot for 2 years and they look amazing now.

Fairfax was never made in brown (except maybe as a custom item). It was offered in black, chestnut and merlot. I have them in the latter two colors and quite like them. The A-E #5 last is not everyone's cup of tea, however.

I own a pair in chestnut (bought from STP 5 years ago or so). They're nice shoes (more "fashion forward" than most other AE dress shoes, IMHO) and I get occasional compliments from people about the "unusual" wholecut design. (I live and work among hordes of sartorial barbarians, tragically.)

I love them.

I have them in black, chestnut, and (finally after a long search) merlot. Almost bought them in chili too. On the 5 last so nice and sleek. Great looking shoe.

I have them in merlot. I like wholecuts, but I find the pattern a bit distracting. The problem for me is that when I first started buying nicer shoesand wanted a wholecut, neither AE nor Alden offered them in their current lines. So, I found these at Syms and bought them. I would prefer a plain wholecut or with significantly less broguing. Just the toe medallion would be nice.

Next purchase is going to move up to C&J as I try to delay going all the way to EG and G&G.

That looks like a burnt loaf of bread that was used for Mac10 target practice. Like a penguin in the gulf coast in recent months. That shoe? Looks like the owner walks into a store looking for shirts with one big button.

they are ridiculous BUT i believe they look more or less like a wholecut w/ some brogueing in real life. the ridiculousness is probably subtle enough to go completely unnoticed 99% of the time.

still, would not buy, at any price
