I just noticed your quote, and recalled a story:

A year or two ago, I had hired a few freelancers for a rather official event. One man showed up wearing the most awful light grey suit, far too small for him, not flattering in the least, given his complexion (he was a red-head). He said to me, in a panic: I have this embarrassing problem. Look. I look down, and his right inner pant leg is split at the seams. Another one of my freelancers, a woman, shows up and says she can fix it temporarily with my handbag sewing kit. And I hear the man grumbling, as he goes off with the woman freelancer: I don't understand, it's brand new, I bought it at the Men's wearhouse.

I'm so not going to touch that one.
I think what Ernest means is that in France, Christmas gifts are only given to children. On Christmas Eve, I was notified that a package was waiting for me at the local Purolator depot. It was a suit shaped box. After getting it home and opening it I found it contained a bespoke suit I had ordered and been measured for this past fall from a certain London tailor. I consider this a Christmas miracle. I would post pictures but I do not own a digital camera. And I am afraid the camera would steal my suit's soul.
