I haven't made the one from Jerusalem, but eggplant stuffed with lamb and pine nuts is a favorite of mine.

Tagliatelle with king trumpet mushrooms and lobster. Frozen lobster tails were on special at Safeway last week so I took a chance, it turned out to be one of the best things I've ever made.

Six months without carbonara. I felt as if I was starving. Such a great, simple meal.

I rarely go a 1 month without carbonara. I love it. It's a great empty-refrig meal because I've virtually always got the ingredients to make carbonara.

Very true, but I couldn't find any pancetta or guanciale. Now that I can find both, I'm on a three day carbonara marathon.

When I lived in a place where I couldn't get decent guanciale or pancetta I made my own. It's ridiculously easy and definitely worth the trouble.

Lebanese chicken and chic pea soup. Lots of cumin, red pepper flakes, garlic, fresh chopped parsley, hit with some lemon juice for serving. Paired very well with the wine.

I had one of the best and most fun meals of my life last night at Asanebo. The chefs are buddies with the friends I went with, so they treated us really well. We didn't order, they just kept bringing stuff out. Courses I remember:

while we were waiting for the bar they brought us a bunch of different pickled things, hot ginko nuts, edamame, shishito
kumamotos with uni and caviar
chawanmushi with mushrooms and other stuff
halibut sashimi and spiny lobster sashimi with black truffles
some eggplant ginger thing
mushroom tempura stuffed with fish
seared kobe with miso
skate wing with tofu and shoto (spelling?) which i was told is basically fish ****
conch mushroom soup served in shell with a quail egg cooking in it
bunch of really amazing sushi
eel spine, dried, tied in a knot, and fried

Sake:

Ken
Gensai
Kyokusen
