I always forget about Gramercy Tavern - perhaps will go tomorrow night. Other than TG turkey, we went to Gotham (which was nice but not exalted), the Lion (food was better than I expected but not that much of a scene) and some random place called Zampa for a pre-dinner today (nice simple charcuteria food). We've been going to Meatball Shop or Mamouns for late night grub which have been great and have had great success finding good cocktails in this city - big fans of Please Don't Tell and Employees Only.

I've made this several times, and overall your pic gets my nod of approval. I don't like the tight ball of spinach, but that's more personal, I prefer to serve it looser. The orange peel idea is really nice with the spinach.

Gramercy and USQ Cafe are always great, also Aldea. Or 15 East for sushi.

It was my first time making this particular recipe. I'd been wanting to make it for a while. I didn't care much for the balls of spinach, either; just kind of an odd way of eating spinach. Otherwise, it's a great dish. The vanilla saffron sauce, especially. I've used it with lobster and it's really great.

Fried fugu is nice, light tasting, supremely moist the way they cooked it. I just wish it was a bigger fish, it's like trying to get meat off a chicken wing tip on some parts. :fu:

Thanks for the tips gomestar. Unfortunately, work/other issues derailed the rest of this trip so won't be able to dine anywhere else in NY until my next trip out here. Went to Mulberry Project for late dinner/cocktails last night which was great. Menu was well edited and went perfectly with cocktails - small plates of rich/hearty ingredients like pork belly and short ribs. Had a blast over the course of a week here and it was great to finally be out here without having any business meetings/evenings (for the most part). And I still have plenty to look forward to next time I'm out here.

Another quick 'n easy meal: baked halibut with thyme and lemon, leftover roasted rosemary potatoes, some green beans. And a glass of Bordeaux. Mmm.
