We're getting a full review of how an apple tastes now. This thread is turning next level.

I ate a flu bug. It is chilly, and a little sore on the muscles.

Actually, on that topic - I learned from a couple people how to tourne a vegetable a bit similarly to the way Manton does it, about an inch and a half long and maybe 1/2-3/4" at the taper (I think Manton goes too wide at the taper lately though, IMO) - but I was just thinking recently about going to La Tour D'Argent and having the pressed duck, and I know for sure that they serve that with a bunch of tourned vegetables that are quite skinny and elegant. What gives? Are they doing it right?

Got some good news today and I felt like taking it easy at home this evening, finally got to try out that book. Had made the chicken stock last week in preparation and froze it.

    drank while cooking:

i made mine with a poached egg, I think it was bit nicer this way. Fresh everything, with the exception of the chickpeas
    [IMG]
the chicken wings and mushrooms - I used tiny brown mushrooms and white maitakes because I don't like shimejis
    [IMG]
the risotto, except I did some chanterelles in the pan before and then added them back into the risotto at the end
