Well, he fucked up the plating & overcooked the quail but let's give him credit for not naming it something ridiculous.

Last night I finally had good chinese food.

Friend took me to monterey park or whatever, past the new fancy parts of china town to a place in front of a strip mall... went inside, was only whitey there. He ordered this beef wrap thing, which looked sort of like a chinese beef wellington. I think was braised short rib in a thick dark sauce wrapped in pastry... it was so delicious I wanted to cry. He told me it's a common breakfast item. Dumplings were very good, not the best i've had but really good. Then the other thing I loved was these rice cake type of things which looked like ovals of sliced scallop in a sauce with pork. Incredibly delicious starch, just loved it. There was a typical thick noodle with beef and broth, quite good, probably the best variation of that that I've had. Then a tofu and snap pea dish.. a tiny bit too oily but many they cooked the veg beautifully... just perfect texture, lovely color on the pea pods.

Really eye opening experience and I'll be going back soon.

For some reason it reminds me of those sideways-slice diagrams of female reproductive systems you see in sex ed textbooks.

Name please? I'm near there at least once a week.

The lack of good Chinese in Chinatown is pathetic. My gf owns a business there and eats Vietnamese most of the time.

i have a wedge in my fridge along with some tomme fleur verte and garrotxa. it takes tremendous amount of willpower to not consume everything in one sitting.
