Is whale meat common in the Netherlands?
I'm in Norway, where it's fairly common, although it is turning into one of those "national dishes", rather than everyday cheap meat, as it was. [IMG] Historically, the Dutch have done some whaling, I think, but I highly doubt that you could even sell whale meat in Holland these days.

I cooked/ate this sirloin burger with cheddar cheese and ketchup. One of the best, juiciest cheeseburgers I've had all summer.

Summer's here, folks! Take advantage of the bounty.....

An unseasonably cold, wet Fiday. Liguine w/ vongole (oil, garlic, pepper flakes, white wine, local littlenecks). Nice arugula salad & a bottle of Valpolicella.

Saturday - grill time! Aged porterhouse, medium rare (sorry Ed), sweet LI corn boiled for 3 mins, lightly buttered & salted, first tomatoes from the garden, drizzled w/ a good peppery Sicilian oil & a sprinkling of fleur del sel. Chilled Lambrusco. Blueberry pie (from the bushes outside) & some frozen vanilla yogurt...

Very. Virigil's has a very unique taste to it as it is the Microbrew of root beers. There's bit more nutmeg and vanilla in it and it's extremely smooth. You can pick it up just about any supermarket or places like Trader Joe's or Cost Plus. Typically comes in a four pack although occasionally they sell it in mini-kegs or tall boys.
