DNW....a well-made Omu-rice is a thing of beauty. There are restaurants here that specialize in it and have around 20 varieties to choose from.

One more pic from Sunday...Tonkatsu (fried pork chop):

Thomas Keller's Bouchon Chicken (the brined version, not the version from the first page that he did on Anthony Bourdain). I didn't have the chicken jus ready, so I deglazed the pan with a bit of white wine, butter, and some purchased veg stock that I keep on hand just in case... worked great Had some roast potatoes and brussels sprouts as sides. All in all a satisfying meal.

A Thai restaurant in DC, one man, one stovetop, chef's menu. Reservations are booked weeks in advance. Take out orders must be called in 2 days in advance. It was a good meal.

That place is ridiculous. It is probably the best Thai food in the city, but it's also just a takeout joint. It's not good enough to be worth the hassle. It was bad enough when you would have to wait a few hours for your order. Now, you have to order days in advance. WTF? It's takeout Thai food. It's supposed to be quick, easy, and spur of the moment. I don't want to plan days in advance to order takeout food.
