I'm sofa shopping for my new place and not sure what color I should get. I've attached a picture of the living room area. White leather looks high maintenance. Maybe cream would look good? Not sure how light-colored leather or fabric will hold up over time. Ideas?

Depends, light colors come through better on really high quality leather. I'd go for medium brown/tan depending on the quality.

I recently built a granny flats NSW. I have a light brown hardwood floor and red color of sofa. I think you should try out yellow color.

Looking at the pictures of your room, I guess a sofa with lime or beige color would suit better. If contrast colors is your choice, then go for a sunkist orange color. Also, I think this lovely and amazing sofa at Zopalo.com would perfectly suit your living room providing the new age comfort.

I would do white or light grey. All white leathers for sofas will be closed pore so they wont stain and if you chose a quality manufacturer it will be very durable. I am replacing a white Zanotta Alfa sofa that is over five years old because I moved but it still looks great and no stains...the leather looks excellent despite raw denim, spilled wine and so on.

If you do a light grey leather it is possible to get an open pore leather but you will have to ask for that as no manufacturers bottom grade leather is open pore.

Here is the most used seat on the sofa....after 5 years it doesn't look new but it is still very white and presentable.
