What color shoes to wear with a navy blue suit

i just bought a nice navy blue suit and was wondering what types of styles/colors etc of shoes I should purchase... i'll be wearing a white dress shirt (not sure if the info is necessary)

what are your thoughts?? examples for color would be greatly appreciated!!!

Dark Brown/Caramel. Brown+Blue= perfect.

A dark brown or chestnut (or really any shade of brown) is my favorite with navy, but if you're using this for interviews or something like that, black may be the safer option. But really either brown or black work with navy.

Color has been addressed, so I'll put in a word for style. For more formal occasions and business, an oxford (closed lacing) in black or burgundy. For less formal and casual occasions, a derby/blucher (open lacing) in one of the aforementioned browns. I'm not sure what Canadians do, but here in the States, we are rather fond of wingtips. I think a pair of black oxford wingtips with a blue suit would be lovely.

Actually with a navy suit the only option that is not great is black - considered conservative and appropriate - yet simply not a nice color match.

Burgundy & taupe are quite nice with blue. Tan is also nice but more flamboyant

As someone who is neither good looking nor Italian, but who does occasionally wear a pair of JLs in caramel august calf with a navy suit and gets compliments on the look, I respectfully disagree with your last point.
