What Color Pants, and shoes?

Hey guys,

I'm going to preakness next month (for those of you who dont know what it is, its a big horse race, comparable to the kentucky derby)

I've never really dressed for something like this (I've been in the military for awhile), and I'm going for the preppy look so I would appreciate some help.

I found a great jacket from H&M, its light blue, looks similar to this one (Couldnt buy this one, just a little too expensive):

I'm not really sure on the pants, so what do you guys think would be best? Khaki, white, grey?

Could I pull these shoes off too?

I would obviously wear a brown belt..

Those shoes are ugly, no one can pull them off.

As for pants, the answer is yes. Any of those colors would be excellent choices. I would probably wind up in a cream or light brown linen myself. As for shoes, penny loafers, bucks (dirty or white) or saddle shoes that weren't designed under the influence. Perhaps suede wingtips. You have lots of options.

As for the belt, wouldn't an outfit like that be a perfect time for a surcingle?

Not crazy about the shoes either. Either one of those colored pants can work.
