Searched and couldn't find the answer.

What color of Saphir wax polish should one use for the brown RL Darltons (cordovan)? Also, curious about Alden Cigar Shell cordovan?

Thanks

Don't use neutral on cordovan. Alden makes a burgundy and a brown paste wax. That is what I plan to use on my Darlton's once they arrive.

Why can't I use neutral? I use it all my shoes, calf or cordovan.

None, in my opinion.

I've never let wax/polish touch my Darltons or other cordovan shoes. After each wear, I wipe them with a wet rag, buff them with a cotton cloth, and then brush them vigorously for a few minutes with a horsehair brush. The cordovan shines like new.

Neutral leaves a white residue on cordovan.

The Mac method dictates that paste wax is used every (15-18) wearings, IIRC. Scuff marks and such need more than brushing.

Is neutral wax and colored wax not the same except for pigment? I have not noted any white residue on my shoes.

Well keep doing it and over time it will build up and be very visible where the cordovan folds. Cordovan is a membrane and is NOT very porous. Wax polish is to be used sparingly.
