Hello:
For the color challenged; What color does Merlot most closely resemble?? Mostly a brown? or not?
Is it a difficult color to accessorize with?

Regards

I have four pairs of A-E shoes in merlot. They vary a bit in color (based on dye lots, I suppose). Some are more to brownish side of the spectrum, others have a more "rosy" hue, for want of a better term. In general though, it is the same as "burgundy" or what many people call (incorrectly) "cordovan."

Burgundy. Looks like dark mahogany. I like this shoe color, it's versatile.

Some of them are a really beautiful dark brown with just a hint of red. Others are redder.

I've given my Merlot McClains some heavy polishing with brown on the toe and heel....the effect, IMO, is a pretty nice antiquing that really adds some depth to the burgundy underneath.

It is green.

I don't mind some of the blue English shoes, but green is too much, IMHO.

Last week (Just prior to the current sale!!) AE delivered a new pair of Merlot MClain to my door. It is a very nice shoe, but I was a biy disappointed that they were so dark. Almost black in color. Not at all like the picture on their website.
