I had this discussion with a friend this morning. I think for me it's hypocrisy. I find it more irksome even than malevolence or dishonesty. Maybe because it's so prevalent.

Unless you're burning me here, then I think I know what you're talking about. I was thinking the other day about people (usually young women) whose explanation of why they throw out unmotivated insults at people is that "I'm just too honest". As if it was dishonest to withhold your opinion when it isn't asked for.

Inability to logically and critically think and the principal refusal to listen to advice, sticking to your guns no matter what.

Actually I wasn't out to zing you, though I had no intention of posting seriously in this thread.

Maybe I am just cranky this afternoon but when most people say what's on their mind, the only thing that keeps me from just walking away out of boredom and disgust is politeness.

I see what you did there and I thought it brilliant and funny.

hmmm, me? I think hypocrisy is right up there, but I think that laziness - particularly the uncritical, blindly accepting of everything just because it's less work to question than to just 'go along', really gets me bent out of shape - particularly when combined with arrogance.

Note: I can sometimes be accused of intellectual laziness, but I'm working on it.

People with no ambition really get me, they just seem to expect everything to be right for them and everything to fall into place with no work on their part.
