What causes wrinkling/creasing of fabric in a suit's upper back?

I'll try to post pics but I suck at taking/posting pics in general.

I got my suit jacket back from my tailor and noticed there is wrinkling across the upper back (a straight line going side-side across) with bunching of fabric there. I am not certain if this was there before but hadn't noticed it. My tailor only took in the waist area but didn't work on the upper part of the jacket. I asked him about this and he claims he didn't work at all on the upper back so it had nothing to do with his alterations.

Does anyone know what causes this wrinkling and how to get rid of it?

Yes, that is exactly what happened to me! I had the lower back taken in and afterwards the top started to pucker (which it didn't do before). The tailor said it had nothing to do with his work and that it just needed pressing. I guess I need to have the collar altered now? I'll have to find a new tailor. My old one kind of annoyed me with how he blew me off when I complained about the collar (especially b/c I've probably spent ~ $2k on tailoring this year w/ him).

Thanks for the info. Doubt it is my posture b/c it is a new suit. I noticed after the initial alterations that there are rolls even when hung on the hanger. I have yet to wear the coat once.

This comment makes no sense. Listen to atailor,

Rolls of cloth under you collar are mainly caused by having an erect posture, square shoulders, round back or prominent shoulder blades to name a few. can also be a combination of these.

If you are trying to shoplift Fra Mani mortadella, it can result in a pronounced roll in a suit's upper back.

Or, so I have heard.

It is very strange. I've had the suit hanging on the original wide hanger. I tried another wider, slimmer hanger, but it's the same. When I initially received it, either the rolls weren't there or I didn't notice them (while hanging on the hanger).

After having the back taken in / suppressed, the rolls are there now even when the coat is on the hanger. That is why I'm not sure it's my posture causing it, since the rolls are there even when hanging on the hangers. The odd thing is that I have never had this problem before, even with other suits of the same model (rlbl anthony). That is why I thought my tailor did something weird with the back, but he claims he didn't touch the upper part of the coat.

Jackets will do this on the hanger because the slope of the jacket is greater than the slope of the hanger and the shoulder is not shaped to follow the curve of a wishbone hanger. This is very common. It would also lead me to think you have a jacket with shoulders that are sloped more than your shoulders which is the most common cause for a roll under the collar.
