Here's an idea: eat a dick.

There's a reason why threads are stickied and thankfully there have been a few new users who have caught on to the idea without having to be told. Also, I assume you were mentioning "500 pages" as a good thing because, more than likely, someone has asked the op's question more than once.

If you want to learn about chemistry or physics, do you pick up a 500 page book and say, "Naw, *******," get baked, and watch reruns of Mr.Wizard? Thought so.

Was a legit suggestion, albeit blunt. I've been to therapy as well during depression and it was helpful for me. Was happy to read that he's actually already done so. I should have stated it better, or refrained from leaving the comment at all, so my apologies. Everything else has adequately been stated by everyone else here. I just think this guy is not really in a position to even be talking about "style" at this point. Dude just needs some clothes.

I'm fairly certain situations almost exactly like this one have arisen in my life. Except with telefrancais and bill nye lmao But I agree 100%, stickies exist for a reason.

Yah, I think Makeshift Robots suggestions are sufficient enough.

My only suggestion is to not force yourself to buy things in order to feel normal. Also, don't spend too much money on individual items. Start small since you should be radically changing your life as of now, which would probably mean change in taste in clothing as you get better. I think its admirable that you're facing your problems. I hope it goes well for you.

Because the dude sounds like he has some legitimate social issues and this may actually be the only place he feels comfortable asking a question. I dunno, this guy isn't even asking about fashion, his question is almost too desperate to be any fun insulting. It's like, there are dumb questions and there are naive questions... This one sounds more naive than idiotic. I agree he should have used the noob thread, but whatever, trolling gets boring after a while.

Yeah, because the context really is that important. Who ******* cares if it has to do with gardening, basketweaving, learning how to dress, or, in your case, freebasing in your mom's basement? It's a hobby, it's information, and it's something you research.

People are willing to help and answer questions FOR FREE and you can't be bothered to show a little consideration when asked? You're a tool.

But what's really funny is looking at the threads you've started. No wonder you're still clueless.

I would go to a store like banana republic. You don't know what you want yet, really, so don't spend a lot of money on say, great shoes that you may or may not like soon. A store like banana republic has acceptable clothing. Is it interesting? no. Are the fits incredible? No (but you don't have a super fit body anyway). Banana republic does not use high quality materials or construction (but honestly, you aren't ready for that commitment yet, and for the price, BR is fine). The store will introduce you to some style--it has hints of rocker style, hints of americana, heritage, militaristic, preppy, athletic, etc. The colorways aren't awesome, but you'll be able to get dark colors and light colors that are acceptable. When you start shopping there you will realize that you don't want to look like a manikin and you will branch out and develop your style. Reading threads here will cultivate your interest in other styles and you will start going in new directions. For now, I think banana republic will offer you a decent resource.
