I am headed to Peru for 10 days. I will be in Lima for a few days on the front and back ends of my trip.

What sartorial bargains can be had? Any bespoke shoemakers? Tailors? Vicuna and Cashmere?

Please let me know.

Not sartorial, but: Anything in sterling silver can be made cheaply and well there. I've seen some amazing silver pieces from Peru/Mexico and many of the countries between - it works much like having MTM suits made in other places, in the sense that they can copy just about anything from a drawing or a photo, or from scratch. Silver is still relatively cheap there, so the weight will be OK. You can get truly massive pieces made there quite cheaply.

I,

I went ten times in Peru for trips ..You will find bespoke shoes on the right side of the central railway of Lima...(i don't remeber the name of the street but it's really near the central railway.

About Vigogne or Lama wool clothes...the best are imported in USA and Europe...and "peruanos" don't have a culture of high level quality clothes.

Have a nice trip in the dirty but charming city of Lima !

Best regards.

As an actual Peruvian, I'd recommend going to some nicer shops to buy alpaca and vicuña - relatives of the Llama but their furs make finer materials - products; simple things like scarves, gloves, blankets (get a nice alpaca blanket like I have and you'll stay nice and warm in the winter time), sweaters, etc. Don't go to touristy places (just like everywhere else), they overcharge and tons of their products are just as available in the US.

Also, make sure to eat lots of the best food in the world. I'd recommend seco a la huachana (seh-ko a la hwa-cha-na), or it might just be called seco, ceviche, pescado a lo macho, but basically anything you eat there will be delicious. Be careful about street vendors; tons serve really good, fine food, but a couple every now and then will have you locked up in the hotel bathroom for the rest of your trip.

Make sure to drink plenty of inka kola and kola ingelsia and try to swing by Machu Pichu next time. Have fun!
