What are your thoughts on Berg & Berg tailoring?

I'm looking for a black suit in a fabric that's suitable for warmer weather. This would be my second suit ever (I've had a Suit Supply for around seven years now, I don't use suits all that much). Having thought about what I like, I'm looking for something with a lapel on the wider side, softer shoulders, and high-rise trousers. The high-rise trousers and wide lapel kinda rule out most budget-ish options like Suit Supply or Spier and Mackay.

I found this suit on sale from Berg & Berg: https://bergbergstore.com/products/don-wool-silk-linen-suit-black

There's only a size 44 left and I'm usually a size 46 but their listed measurements match those of my current suit well. It's also on sale for 50% off, putting it within my budget (I want something well below $1000).

But is Berg & Berg good for tailoring? I can't find much online about the quality and I'm honestly not too knowledgable about construction myself...

Purely based on the fact that they regularly do high-percentage sales, I find it difficult to determine what the actual value of their garments is and this has put me off from ordering from them.

I think Natalino is a very good alternative for what you are looking for - they have excellent high-rise trousers and their jackets have lapels on the wider side and soft shoulders, with both being reasonably priced.

Thanks! I had never heard of Natalino before but they seem like a great option.

It makes sense that high-percentage sales would be an indicator of lower quality than sticker price, but then wouldn’t that maybe reflect that their value is at ~$700?

There's a big thread about B&B on the classic menswear part of the forum, it might be worth asking there as people have quite a bit of experience of the products.
